Summer is here! It is hot on the court. Anyone coming here to play pick up some special sand socks to play with or bring a pair of socks especially to wear while playing. I measured the sand temperature the other day and the surface temp was over 130 degrees. I am sure it is even hotter now. I have measured temps over 160 degrees before.

I don't have much to report this week because last weekend I bragged to someone that I am never sick. So of course the next day I came down with a cold. It was a particularly nasty one, I still haven't recovered 100%. Scott B. is still here from Seattle, plus Don from California is here visiting too. We are having plenty of games.

Next Sunday we will be celebrating Kevin Baltonado, Ken Harris and Terry Lee' Birthday.

Aloha!, I don't have much to report today. I didn't make it to the beach all week until Friday and there were very few players there that day. Saturday I hiked Iao Valley so missed whatever happened on that day. Sunday, none of the regulars came down to the court. Between the basketball playoffs and that tourney in Kanaha it left no one to play. Brooke and I played a few games against Mike Carey and Tom Thayer then Mike and Joe Murphy. Terry Lee and Kimo showed up a little later and Scott from Seattle made it down to the court too. Hopefully Monday will be a better day at the court.

Aloha!, well we had our big party/tourney on Sunday. We didn't have as many players as I would have liked but it went well anyway. Everyone had a good time

Wendall is putting on a Tourney in Next weekend at Kanaha here are the details:
Kaihonua Productions in conjunction with Lae Ula O Kai Canoe Club is having a
2 man v-ball tournament.
Sunday May 16, starting at 9:00am
Entry fee is $15.00 a team, proceeds to go to Lae Ula O Kai Canoe Club
Entry fee entitles participant to lunch supplied by Lae Ula O Kai
Prizes will be sponsored by:
Makawao Steakhouse: Dinner for (4) Four (1st place)
Leilani's on the Beach: Lunch for (2) Two (2nd place)
Speedos: V-ball shorts (2-pair) (3rd place)
In the event there is not enough teams to play pool play we will play king of the beach for the above prizes. Their will not be a women's division, although if a woman finds a male partner they may enter the tourney as a co-ed team.

It was a slow week at the court. Most of our visiting players have gone home and I believe everyone is taking a short break. There were games all weekend but not a lot of players came down. I want to encourage everyone that wants to play to come to the court over the summer. Lots of our regulars will be gone this summer and we will desperately be needing players. Games start around noon each day so please come out and play. This week is Mike Carey and Dave Shields birthday. Both of their birthdays are on May 4th. Happy Birthday Mike and Dave
