The blustery weather lasted through Thursday, Friday was a perfect day for volleyball. Saturday the wind came back and Sunday was a blistering hot day, very typical of summer. My feet are burnt from playing. Personally I am burnt out, from playing so much on Sunday I was flat, I noticed a couple of others that have been playing everyday were also playing not up to par.
Kurt and Bonnie Dahm are here from Santa Cruz, pushing hard to get their games in while they are here. On Sunday Josh, Jason and Jason from Kihei came over to play. Herm is back and played again on Sunday. Someone push Ken Harris to start playing again, he doesn't play that much and needs to play more.
Liz from the other side came over and played giving the girls their long awaited girls game. Betsy, Brooke, Liz and Bonnie played a few games on the other court.
There is a huge group of people showing up now playing on our second court. They have taken it over. We are going to have to tell them to set up their own court because we can't even use it at all. It is good to see people out exercising like that. They are definitely into it for the party. Loud music, lots of drinks and tons of fun!

It has been a long, cold windy week. I have added to the webpage a small image with the local time and weather info. This is for Lahaina only, if you want other spots or more in depth info click on it and you will be taken to their page for more info. I have found this link to be very accurate.
There are addedlinks to the left. If you are interested in fun tourneys in Mexico there is a link to Estero and another link to a little known but still excellent tourney there. You can check out the news in USENET, plus read the latest info from the AVP.

First off this week are the results of the Black Eyed Susan mixed tourney at Kanaha. The winners were Rick Grubbs playing with Betsy Myers. Second place was Allan Lebao and Wendy Macaheleg. The tourney was successful with many great teams playing. They plan to have more tourneys so start practicing.
Rob Myers is on the mainland visiting his father and won't be back until this week sometime. Larry Levien(sp?) was here playing on Friday. Ken Harris is slowing down in his game. By that I mean he isn't playing as much, he comes but doesn't play. Someone get him going and playing again. Dave Shields played again on Sunday. Sunday was topped off with another of Rottens barbeques. Let me see, he had Shrimp, Scallops various kebobs plus some really good sword fish. Oh, he also had some chicken. Not bad for a day at the beach.
I understand lots of the mainland is under nasty weather. Sometimes it is hard to relate to all that while we are at the beach in shorts playing ball all day.
3/8/99-
I am sure you heard but we had a shark attack at Kaanapali beach on Friday. The person had swam out to watch the whales when it happened. She had a major injury to her leg. She has survived and hopefully will not lose her leg. This is a very rare occurance, in fact, I have never heard of an attack at Kaanapali. We played all weekend, the weather was perfect, clear and sunny. There were mild trade winds blowing all weekend. Josh and Jason came over again from the other side and played on Sunday. Scot and Tom T. are back, plus Dave Shields graced us again on Sunday. Rob M. is gone to the mainland hopefully he will be back soon. Kevin B.'s mom is here visiting, she is a very nice person.
WANTED Female players, we have almost none... There is a mixed tournament next weekend and most of us can't play because we have no female players.
3/1/99- It is March already, time is flying by.
Weather was very good this last week and especially good over the weekend. Maui is such a beautiful place, I can't imagine living any place else. Picture a beautiful sunny beach with two volleyball courts, whales frolicing in the background. High in the West Maui mountains rainbows from the frequent showers. The contrast of the verdant greenery and the azure blue of the sky is striking.
Dave Shields came to play a couple of days, that was great. Herm played on Saturday(I think it was Sat). Jason and Josh from the other side came over and got in lots of fun games on Sunday. We need more of those guys to come over and play. Mr. Rotten did a barbeque on Sunday supplying the entire group with lots of great food. I thought the salmon was especially good. We had a great group down there on Sunday. Some of the group headed off to Leilani's on the Beach to listen to the free Hawaiian Music concert happening there.
Betsy Myers played out of her head. I played a couple of mixed games with her and she was awesome. She carried me for the entire time. Brooke and Joe Bock gave us some fun games. So, if you are a player, and love the beach... come on down!
