3/24-Cheapest Gas on Maui is now $194.9
3/20- The Pro Womens exhibition was very good. I got there late so only saw the last 3 or 4 points of the exhibition. Unfortunately, I did get there for the serving contest. That was agonizing to watch. They used one of our courts for the exhibition so we only had one court to play with. The wind was blowing pretty hard on Saturday so we ended up playing some 4 person volleyball. It was fun considering the wind and we would all rather play 2 person. The good part is that I got to see lots of friends I haven't seen in a while. Now, all I have to do is become more regular in my playing again.
3/17- NEWS FLASH!Tomorrow (Sat 3/18 12-2:00) there will be a Professional Womens Volleyball exhibition at our courts in front of the Marriott. I have no idea who is playing but it is the professional women from the beach tour playing.
Aloha and maybe see you there.GAS PRICE FLASH! $190.9 is our cheapest..
3/16/2000 Aloha! I am still searching for a place to live, so bear with me.I heard from David Chaikin in Kona. The famed Dinosaur Tourney, was held there recently. Seems as though it was the last one in Kona and will be moved here to Maui at the Kanaha Courts. The tourney was won by Marin Artukovich & Kahinu Lee (KONA) with Alika Williams & Wayne Kakina (OAHU) in 2nd. It appears that Dave injured himself (snapped a ligament in his leg) at game point in the winners semi playing with Jon Anderson (Oahu). He has already had surgery and will be out for a while.
We all wish Dave a speedy recovery and quick return to volleyball.
3/7/00- Not much on the volleyball line, I am in the mad search for a home. I'll be much more regular with my postings soon (I sure hope.)...You people on the mainland U.S. should see our gas prices here on Maui. The very cheapest it is to be had is $1.83.9 a gallon.. I suspect it will easily pass $2.00 a gallon before summer is gone. The island is mired in traffic also. Yesterday morning it took me almost an hour to get from Kapalua to Kaanapali. Kihei is nearly as bad and the rest of the island has more than normal traffic also.
The volcano on the big island continues to spew volanic smoke(VOG) into the air, this is making the atmosphere very hazy, it seems like it has been 2 months since we have had a nice clear day. Normally the tradewinds blows it out but they haven't been that regular this year. We are also having the driest year in recorded history. This time of the year the West Maui mountains are usually green, they are ugly brown from being so dry.
As I am writing this the sun is rising from behind Haleakala, what a beautiful site. This is still one of the most beautiful places in the world.
