It is HOT. Make sure and bring socks or something to wear on your feet if you are planning on coming here to play.

Good thing for tourists or we wouldn't have enough people to play ball right now. We do have enough but getting everyone at the beach at the same time is not as easy as it sounds. The regular players right now are Mike Carey, Brooke Haner, Ken Harris, Scotty and Rick Grubbs. Tom Hunter, Miguel, Pooky make it down but not as regular... Oh, add me to the list too. I have gotten email from Rob and Betsy and Sean all saying to say 'aloha' to everyone.. So now I have done my duty and passed it on. I haven't heard if Colleen has had her babies yet, but I suspect she has.. I will find out today hopefully and post here.

My daughter Marissa is coming in today to visit me, I am excited!!!!
See you at the beach!

Today is the first day of Summer!

We are down to just a few players so there are not a lot of games right now. We do have a lot of tourists coming up to the court wanting to play though. At least half of the gang is on the mainland right now vacationing. Some will be back very soon and others won't be here for a while.

The court is still at the Marriott, we had an unusual north swell for this time of the year and it has stopped us from moving back to the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel area for now.. I suspect we will be there in a week or so.

Colleen, is nearly due and should be having her twins any day now. I talked to her yesterday and she wants to hold on for a week or so before she gives birth to them.

See you on the Beach!

Another quiet week on Maui. I made it to be beach on Friday and we played 1 game. Scot, Ken, Rob and I were all that was there. It was windy too to make things worse.

The player exodus for their summer vacations have begun. Rob, left on Saturday.. Mike Carey leaves today... The others I have listed are already gone.. Keep your eyes open for the guys showing up on your local courts..

I had an absolutely perfect weekend!

I am heading off to the beach to play some ball today after I get off work. See you at the beach!

The weather here is wonderful, perfect for volleyball. I have to admit that the sand is screaming HOT! If you have any thoughts about playing here, bring socks. It is impossible to play without them.

Scot is not going to Chicago this summer so he will be here, which is good. We need all the players we can get, a few are leaving. Rob and Betsy will be going, Mike Carey, Kevin B., Sean R,Tony has already left, with a small group of players this isn't good. By August we will be back to full strength and lots of games. Hopefully the shortage will be made up with tourist wanting to play this year.

One highlight I would like to mention. Pooky is playing again. He hurt his back and was out for a few months but he is back. Maybe Jo Jo Macucci will start playing again, I am not sure.

The court will probably be moved back to the Sheraton this week. We are loosing the beach fast at the Marriott due to high surf. We will all be glad to go back to the Sheraton end of the beach because we have a nice shade tree and the ocean there is a nice sandy bottom so you can run straight to the water and dive in, no need to worry about hitting your head on a rock like one kook did a couple of months ago.

Have a great week everyone and see you on the beach!

Summer is here!

Memorial Day weekend here on Maui was very busy, there was a life guard convention, the Maui Jazz Festival and we had a last minute Volleyball Tourney. The tourney almost didn't happen because the beach has been eroded from the surf and we are down to only one court. We split up into 5 teams and played round robbin ball with the top 4 teams going into single elimination playoffs. The tourney was in observation of Kevin Baltonado, Ken Harris and Terry Lee's birthdays.

Happy Birthday to them all!

First place was Kevin, Spooner, Tom Hunter and Joe Bock.
Second place was Larry, Greg, Tom Beck and Sheri... with Rob Myers substituting in at the end.

There was a tie for third place with Rick G. and Rob Myers teams.. Mike Carey also had a team but didn't make it out of pool play.
