News flash!
The court has been moved due to large surf.
It is now at the Marriott end of the beach in front of the tennis courts.

1/25/99- Not much news this week. I haven't been to the court all week. I came down with the flu. I am rarely sick and a real wimp when I do get sick.
There was a tourney in Kanaha on Saturday. I went by and watched for a little while. The winners were Watt Thongtrakul and Dave Shields .
Sorry bout the brevity of the news, next week will be more.

1/18/99- I can't believe it is a little more than halfway through January already. We have had great weather at the court with games everyday for a while now. Kyle Denitz (Herm's Grandson), has been here visiting from Ojai, Ca.. He is playing pretty good ball and having a great time. Good to see him visiting, we all hope he visits more. Tom Thayer, is here now too. He showed up looking his normal sorta 'off white' color but coming from Chicago he looks great. Each year his volleyball gets a little better. I think he is starting off this year better than last. Louie M. from Santa Cruz is here visiting Sean.

1/11/99- Aloha all! It has been a long week. I haven't played during last week but did play all weekend. Herm' grandson Kyle is here. He is 17 and playing great vball. His dad Mark Denitz at one time was one of the top California players. The normal group of regulars were down over the weekend. Rob, Rick G, Scot T., Joe Bock, Herm, Aussie Dave,Kyle, Betsy, Tom B., Sean, and of course myself. The weather has cooled off a little but it still hits the low 80's. We are still at the Sheraton end of the beach. We have had some large surf this last week but still haven't lost sand yet. Tom Thayer, is coming on Tuesday and says that 'You are moving the court back to the Marriott by Wednesday whether we like it or not'. I guess he really doesn't want to walk down to the Sheraton to play. Seriously, we are all looking forward to seeing Tom again.

Oh, I have just discovered Microsoft's NetMeeting. It is an Internet Phone application and it works great. Any old friends out there that want to contact me with it and talk feel free to do so. If you don't have it you should try it. It saves you long distance charges and costs nothing. I have talked to people in other countries and the quality is good.

1/4/99- Happy 1999! Hello all! How was your New Years Eve? Mine was quiet, I chose to stay home and have a safe and sane New Years Eve. It was like WWIII here in Hawaii. There was so much smoke from the fireworks that I couldn't see across the street.
We had a lot of rain on New Years Eve, so there wasn't any volleyball. Since then it has been perfect and lots of fun games as usual. Todd Prindle and wife is here visiting, Wil Sharp and Francis have gone home. I would say that most of the tourists have gone home too. We haven't lost any more beach from the surf so we are still at the Sheraton End of the beach. We are usually at the other end by this time. We are having big swells but it isn't taking out the beach as usual. It will happen, I am sure.
Herm has been playing especially well lately too, he is our role model. At 68, he does what very, very few men or women can do. He goes out there plays ball and wins his share of games.. Whatta stud! I will probably have him on the net soon, so those of you that want to can communicate with him.
There will be a tourney at Kanaha later this month! I will keep you posted as to the exact date. For now take care, keep playing ball and I will see you on the beach soon! Aloha!!!!
