4/26/99- It has been a good weekend here on Maui. Saturday was Wendy's Kanaha Mixed Open tourney. It went very well. There were players from Oahu and Kauai that came to Maui to play in the tourney. We Kaanapali players were poorly represented. We have no female players so there were only two of us in the tourney. The rest of us will have to wait until lots of females move here to play volleyball with us.
Sunday was a good day at Kaanapali. Sue Holmes is still here and showed up to play. There were a couple of other couples from the mainland playing on the 2nd court. Mike Lyons showed up and we played 4 or 5 games together, reminded me of playing with him a couple of years ago. After the regular games were over the gang got together and played some four on four. It was a fun, mellow Sunday afternoon at Kaanapali.

Kanaha Mixed Open Results

First Place Mike Thornton and Roni Marley from Kauai
Second Place Jeff Poppinga and Loke Macaheleg
Third Place Josh Winters and Judy
Fourth Place Rick Grubbs and Stephanie Cox from Oahu
A special Mahalo to Wendy Macaheleg for putting on this tournament!

4/19/99- We have a lot of good players visiting Maui right now so things are pretty good at the court. Chad (from Oahu), Cliff (from Tahoe) and Sue Holmes(Santa Cruz, area) are all here and playing a lot. Jason (Scott) and Jason from the Kihei court were all here on Sunday playing. Saturday was blown out but Friday and Sunday were lots of fun. Joe Bock returned to the courts playing after a few weeks away. Tom Hunter, Tom Beck, Kevin Baltonado, Rob Myers, Mike Carey, Brooke, Sean Rudesill, Scot T. Rotten plus a million other people that are too numerous to mention were all there. Next weekend is the Mixed Open Tournament in Kanaha. It should be a lot of fun, everyone come out and play.
4/12/99- We had a great party/tourney yesterday in honor of Tom Thayer. Tom is leaving back to Chicago later today, we will all miss him. Kevin B., Tom Beck and Octo won the tourney. It was an A, B, C draw tourney. There were lots of fun games, everyone played well. As usual Ken Harris didn't show up on time for the tourney. Scot T. Rotten had a huge barbecue at the end of the day, with tons of great food.

Happy Birthday to Betsy Myers
Betsy we love you and wish you many more Happy Birthdays!

4/5/99-   April is here, the Easter Bunny has come, Maui is flooded with tourists.
There was a gathering of people at Tom Thayers place at the beach Sunday. Tons of good food was brought by each person. The eating and volleyball games went on all day long.
Lu from Switzerland was here during the week and part of the weekend. She is a good player and a lot of fun. We need more players like her at our court. There was a nice couple here from Denver, but I didn't catch their name. The regulars were at the court playing all day long. Kevin B. and I played 5 straight games on Saturday. It was extremely hot that day. We finally lost in the end but should have won that game too.
Jim Sweeney had his 61st birthday on Friday. Happy Birthday to you Jim. He still plays good volleyball.
Pooky showed up, and so did Aussie Dave. Octo, Ceeks and a few other guys came out to play. It is good to see all the guys playing.
Have a great week, see you next Monday.
